THE SERVANT GENERAL
ON EVANGELIZATION AND MISSION
THEY WILL LISTEN - 2
Today’s reading: Acts 28:16-31
Jesus said that the harvest is rich. But for many Catholic
communities, their work of evangelization has stalled. It
seems very difficult today to bring people into our programs
and have them persevere through them. LCSC has the goal of
massive evangelization. There are millions of lapsed Catholics
to be reached, but how can we reach them all?
just need to proclaim the gospel, and it is up to God to provide
the fruit. We do what we are supposed to do, and God will
do what He truly desires to do, which is to allow people to
experience the salvation Jesus already won for them. So here
is our assurance, even as we look at a pagan world steeped
in darkness: “they will listen.” (v.28b).
assures us of His grace and the empowerment of the Spirit.
There should be no obstacles to our work, except our own selfishness,
fear, doubt, disobedience. These we must surrender to God.
Then we can become like Paul, as “with complete assurance
and without hindrance he proclaimed the kingdom of God and
taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.” (v.31).
work of evangelization is so important that we need to give
our all. After all, Jesus already gave his all. This is then
our privilege and the source of great blessing for us. Thus
evangelization should be our preoccupation and our priority.
We should be willing to expend ourselves for the work. Just
like Paul. “From early morning until evening, he expounded
his position to them, bearing witness to the kingdom of God
and trying to convince them about Jesus” (v.23b).
it your all. They will listen.
