THE SERVANT GENERAL
EVANGELIZATION AND MISSION
TO PREACH THE GOSPEL
April 21, 2019
Today’s reading: Acts 10:34-43
The Lord is risen! Happy Easter to all.
Jesus has risen from the dead. He has conquered sin and the
dominion of the evil one. He has won salvation for humankind,
and “everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness
of sins through his name.” (v.43b). This is the gospel,
the good news of salvation in Jesus.
Jesus has done everything needed to be done to save us. But
that salvation needs to be proclaimed to all, so that they
might hear, believe and put their faith in Jesus. This is
why Jesus commissioned his disciples before he finally ascended
to heaven. “He commissioned us to preach to the people
and testify that he is the one appointed by God as judge of
the living and the dead.” (v.42). To preach the gospel
is a fundamental task for all Christians.
We are all called to witness to Jesus. “We are witnesses
of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in
Jerusalem.” (v.39a). And beyond Israel to the ends of
the earth. We witness by the holiness of our lives, and by
the verbal preaching of this good news.
Our Catholic Church is missionary. Our community of CFC-FFL
is evangelistic and missionary. Our families are missionary.
This is our call and charism, to do the work of evangelization
and mission. We are families on mission.
To be otherwise is to fail to understand what Easter is all
