THE SERVANT GENERAL
EVANGELIZATION AND THE GOSPEL OF LIFE
November 8, 2013
Address of Pope Francis to the Int'l Federation of Catholic
Medical Associations and Catholic gynecologists on Sept 20,
"This is a commitment
to the new evangelization that often requires going against
the current, at a cost to the person. The Lord counts on you
to spread the "Gospel of life."
= gospel of life.
CFC-FFL, being a family
renewal ministry, has always stressed pro-life. We emphasized
this a bit more at the restoration of 2007. We adopted the
byline, “Renewing the Family and Defending Life.”
While family and life naturally go together, the way we formulated
our byline stressed the importance of pro-life advocacy, not
just as an adjunct to family, but having an emphasis on its
own, as a way of addressing the major conflict of the Third
Millennium, that of the culture of life versus the culture
of death. Then we stressed it further when we adopted as our
theme for 2012, just last year, “CHOOSE LIFE.”
This indeed was part of our response to the New Evangelization.
How do we spread the
gospel of life? Well, continue to do much of what we are doing
now in CFC-FFL. But that is not massive enough. That does
not adequately reflect a commitment to the New Evangelization.
Fortunately, God continues to show us new ways, radical ways
that go against the current, ways that make those standing
on the familiar status quo uncomfortable.
What we need to do
is to help the Church through the parishes to spread the gospel
of life, offering everything the Lord has given us through
these years. We as CFC-FFL can only do so much on our own.
But we as CFC-FFL, bringing our pro-life advocacy to the parishes
and helping parish leaders take on the work, can accomplish
so much more. This is best done through LCSC. One of the 4
pillars of LCSC is Live Life, our work of proclaiming the
gospel of life.
