THE SERVANT GENERAL
THE NEW EVANGELIZATION
LIVING IN THE END TIMES - 5
November 28, 2014
We need to be able to read the signs of the times. Jesus already
told us what would be the signs of the end. They include false
prophets, wars and calamities, as well as massive apostasy.
All these things are happening today. Well, “when you
see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is
near.” (Lk 21:31).
will happen at the end of time? There will be the final judgment.
John “saw the dead, the great and the lowly, standing
before the throne, and scrolls were opened. The dead were
judged according to their deeds, by what was written in the
scrolls.” (Rv 20:12a,c). Know that God “keeps
a record” of how we have lived our lives. “Then
another scroll was opened, the book of life.” (Rv 20:12b).
“Anyone whose name was not found written in the book
of life was thrown into the pool of fire.” (Rv 20:15).
for those whose names are in the book of life, they will enter
into “the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out
of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
(Rv 21:2). Who will these be? They are those who live
Christ; they are the saints, the holy ones who are
set apart, “who had not worshiped the beast or its image
nor had accepted its mark on their foreheads or hands.”
(Rv 20:4c). They are those who share Christ;
they are the evangelizers, especially those who have given
their all, even their very lives, to witness to Jesus; such
are the martyrs, “who had been beheaded for their witness
to Jesus and for the word of God” (Rv 20:4b).
are the ones who gain eternal life and take their place on
their heavenly thrones. “They came to life and they
reigned with Christ” (Rv 20:4d). Is that not what we
should all want? Don’t we want to make it to heaven?
“My soul yearns and pines for the courts of the Lord.”
our work of evangelization bring people to meet Christ
and to accept him as Savior and Lord. “Blessed the man
who finds refuge in you” (Ps 84:6a). Then, as they strive
to live Christ, they will reap even more blessings, as they
make their way to heaven. “They will go from strength
to strength and see the God of gods on Zion.” (Ps 84:8).
Then they will live eternally with God, in endless worship
in heaven. That is the fullness of God’s blessing. “Blessed
are those who dwell in your house! They never cease to praise
you.” (Ps 84:5).
