THE SERVANT GENERAL
THE NEW EVANGELIZATION
JESUS’ MISSION AND OUR VISION
Today’s gospel: Matthew 9:32-38
Our mission in CFC-FFL is the very mission of Jesus. “Jesus
went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their
synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing
every disease and illness.” (v.35). Teaching means formation,
by which the people of God are instructed and formed. Proclaiming
the gospel is the work of evangelization, with special emphasis
on the kerygma. Curing every disease and illness is the work
of total human liberation, which is work with the poor. CFC-FFL’s
three areas of focus are (1) evangelization, (2) community
formation including its Family Ministries, and (3) work with
the poor through the No One in Need (NONe) movement.
work is intended to be massive, to proclaim the gospel to
all towns and villages and to cure every disease and illness.
But this work, in order to truly be massive and reach the
ends of the earth, ought not just be our work, but the work
of our whole Church. This is the raison d’etre of LCSC.
There is much to be done, with 99 of 100 sheep lost. Jesus
has already won our salvation, and God has done everything
in order to bring us back to God and to His Church. But they
need to be reached with the gospel. “The harvest is
abundant but the laborers are few” (v.37a).
tells us to “ask the master of the harvest to send out
laborers for his harvest.” (v.38). Even with CFC-FFL
and other evangelistic associations, there will still not
be enough laborers, as there are so many to be reached, and
the task is so urgent. The whole Church needs to be mobilized.
The parishes need to be given an effective methodology and
the proper vision for massive evangelization. This is LCSC.
