THE SERVANT GENERAL
THE NEW EVANGELIZATION
LIVING IN THE END TIMES - 21
November 28, 2015
We have come to the end of the Church liturgical year, but
we have not yet come to the end of the world. But the end
of the world is coming, and we are already in the end times.
So “beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from
carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life,
and that day catch you by surprise like a trap.” (Lk
21:34-35a). Let us not be caught up in the licentiousness
of the times, nor in anxieties that day-to-day life brings.
Let us look to what is to come, to the glory that comes at
the end for God’s faithful people.
us not invest ourselves in this world, or in the kingdoms
of this world, or in our own little kingdoms. For all these
will pass away. There is only one Kingdom that will endure,
and that is God’s. If we are truly God’s people,
if we are God’s holy ones, then that is to be our
Kingdom, as “the holy ones of the Most High shall receive
the kingship, to possess it forever and ever.” (Dn 7:18).
will that happen? It is at the end of time when “the
Ancient of Days” (Dn 7:22a) will come. “Then the
kingship and dominion and majesty of all the kingdoms under
the heavens shall be given to the people of the holy ones
of the Most High” (Dn 7:27a). Who are those holy ones?
They are the chosen and anointed of God. They are “Israel
...., priests of the Lord ...., servants of the Lord ....,
spirits and souls of the just ...., holy and humble of heart
....” (Dn 3:83-87). They are those who “bless
the Lord; praise and exalt him above all forever.” (Dn
the end and the tribulation that will ensue “will assault
everyone who lives on the face of the earth.” (Lk 21:35b).
We need to be ready. “Be vigilant at all times”
(Lk 21:36a). We must be prayerful and joyfully expectant.
So “pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations
that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.”
is one more thing we need to do. We need to evangelize with
zeal and passion, with a great sense of urgency. We must want
many more to join the holy ones of God. We must desire to
be able to say, “All you mortals, bless the Lord; praise
and exalt him above all forever.” (Dn 3:82).
