THE SERVANT GENERAL
THE WAY FORWARD IN CHRIST
OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
Today’s psalm: Psalm 145:10-21
What is our proper relationship with God -- we to Him and
He to us?
Lord watches over all who love him” (v.20a). First,
we are to love Him with our all -- mind, heart, strength and
soul. When we do, then we enable God to watch over us and
care for us as His beloved children, which is what He desires
to do. Those who do not give God their all are those who make
room in their hearts for other desires or priorities, which,
especially mammon, take over more and more of their hearts
until there is less and less for God.
fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he hears their
cry and saves them.” (v.19). Second, we are to
fear God, that is, to be in awe of Him and to give Him the
reverence that is His due. When we do, then knowing that our
hearts are in the right place, God will grant us our heart’s
desires, being not in contradiction with His will for our
lives. This is especially comforting as we live in a valley
of tears and are beset by the enemy from all sides. God is
able to save us from all distress.
Lord is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon
him in truth.” (v.18). Third, we are to call upon
God, that is, we present ourselves to Him and ask for His
care, protection, providence and empowerment. We draw near
to Him in prayer, and seek His truth for our lives. When we
do, as we live God’s truth, then we will always be in
His presence and grace.
We should proclaim such a God. We should share such a God.
This we do through the work of evangelization, sharing Christ
as we proclaim the good news of salvation in him to all the
peoples. “My mouth will speak the praises of the Lord;
all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.”
