THE SERVANT GENERAL
THE WAY FORWARD IN CHRIST
A TRULY FULFILLED AND BLESSED LIFE - 2
We continue from yesterday. We start by reiterating the total
commitment needed to be the Lord’s disciple. “None
of us lives for oneself, and no one dies for oneself. For
if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for
the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.”
to God and as Christ’s disciples, what are we to do?
As CFC-FFL, our vision and mission is evangelization founded
on family renewal.
and foremost, we evangelize. This is the great need in the
world, including in our Church! There are sheep that
are no longer in the sheepfold. What are we tasked to do?
“What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing
one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert
and go after the lost one until he finds it?” (Lk 15:4).
But the problem is even more dire. The lost is not the one
but are the ninety-nine!!
called to the New Evangelization. We must be “obsessed”
with finding and bringing back the lost sheep. “And
when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great
joy” (Lk 15:5). As community and as Church, we rejoice
as we and our brethren are able to reach many others and bring
them back to God and back to the Church. Thus, “upon
his arrival home, he calls together his friends and neighbors
and says to them, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found
my lost sheep.’” (Lk 15:6). We testify in our
households and assemblies, and let all give glory to God.
we have other good company that rejoices with us. “I
tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven
over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous
people who have no need of repentance.” (Lk 15:7). There
is the Church Triumphant cheering on the Church Militant.
Then there are the angels of God. “In just the same
way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels
of God over one sinner who repents.” (Lk 15:10). Now
if through LCSC we are able to help bring back millions of
lapsed Catholics, imagine the grand celebration in heaven
among the angels and saints! Imagine our Lord and Master Jesus
Christ greatly pleased with our work.
of massive evangelization is extremely difficult, as we engage
in spiritual warfare. We come against a mighty foe, the evil
one, together with the powerful human forces at his command
(the US government under Obama, the European Union, the United
Nations, billionaire depopulationists, international liberal
media). But we already saw yesterday and again see today how
we can fully trust in the God who sends us. “Though
an army encamp against me, my heart does not fear; though
war be waged against me, even then do I trust.” (Ps
there is our work of family renewal. In this we look not just
to our own families but to others as well. This is crucial
in today’s world, especially in the West where families
have broken up. There are many children growing up without
their parents together. They will need spiritual fathers and
mothers, and of course Christ in their lives. They can find
a home in our community and in our parishes. “Even if
my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will take me in.”
our life and work, we desire to glorify God, and have the
nations adore Him, “for it is written: ‘As I live,
says the Lord, every knee shall bend before me, and every
tongue shall give praise to God.’” (Rom 14:11).
This is the way to salvation. This is also our way
to salvation. Our life and work should be focused on one outcome:
“One thing I ask of the Lord; this I seek: to dwell
in the Lord’s house all the days of my life. To gaze
on the Lord’s beauty, to visit his temple.” (Ps
that happen? Remember: “For we shall all stand before
the judgment seat of God” (Rom 14:10b). At the final
judgment, what will we then say to God? “Do not hide
your face from me; do not repel your servant in anger. You
are my salvation; do not cast me off; do not forsake me, God
my savior!” (Ps 27:9). But by then it will be too late.
“So then each of us shall give an account of himself
to God.” (Rom 14:12). By our life and works will we
it be great if we could finally join the great celebration
in heaven, with the nations of the world and the sheep that
are no longer lost? Wouldn’t it be great if we and our
families could share in the joy of the angels and saints over
the return of the lost sheep? “I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and chant praise
to the Lord.” (Ps 27:6b).
been told what to do. Let us do it.
