THE SERVANT GENERAL
THE WAY FORWARD IN CHRIST
MUCH GIVEN, MUCH EXPECTED
Today’s gospel: Luke 12:32-48
considering our life and mission today, we look back on 35
years and see that we have been greatly blessed by God and
used as a powerful instrument of renewal.
Touching millions of lives in very many countries throughout
the whole world.
and strengthening hundreds of thousands of families.
recognized by the Holy See as one of the ecclesial movements
and new communities (EMNCs), the only one in Asia.
As CFC-FFL, being preserved from veering away and restored
as a remnant to the authentic CFC charism.
being used by the Spirit to offer the Live Christ, Share
Christ (LCSC) movement to the Catholic Church as a lay response
to the New Evangelization.
The above is not to bask in glory, but to look to our greater
responsibility for the work of the Kingdom. “Much will
be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more
will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.”
(v.48b). After 35 years, the work is just beginning. We look
to doing even more, until the Lord returns.
will the Lord return? Well, we are already in the end times.
But the Lord will return “at an hour you do not expect”
(v.40b). So we must be prepared and diligently at work. “Gird
your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await
their master’s return from a wedding, ready to open
immediately when he comes and knocks.” (v.35-36).
many in the Church are unprepared and are not about the work
of the Kingdom. Many are unmindful of the mission, the work
of evangelization. So as they are not fighting the enemy in
spiritual warfare, then they are fighting among themselves.
The Lord’s servants “beat the menservants and
the maidservants” (v.45b). Others just indulge in the
world, as they “eat and drink and get drunk” (v.45c),
possibly drinking too many piña coladas at
the Country Club.
happens to them? Jesus says that “that servant’s
master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour
and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the
unfaithful.” (v.46). Such unfaithful servants will be
you know what is expected of you. Especially the servant leaders.
I have told you time and again what is our vision and mission,
our life and work, our calling and vocation. You ignore these
instructions to your peril. “That servant who knew his
master’s will but did not make preparations nor act
in accord with his will shall be beaten severely” (v.47).
are the faithful remnant. And God has revealed even more of
His plan to us. We must go forth in faith and boldness, as
His holy warriors, and continue to build His kingdom. “Do
not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is
pleased to give you the kingdom.” (v.32).
