THE SERVANT GENERAL
THE WAY FORWARD IN CHRIST
THE LCSC MOVEMENT
Today the Holy Father, Pope Francis, consecrates the world
to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Exactly two years ago in
October 2011, the Live Christ, Share Christ (LCSC) movement
started at the Parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Taktak,
Antipolo, Metro Manila.
Hardly. There are three elements at work here. LCSC is about
(1) our being a servant to the Church (under the Pope), (2)
worldwide evangelization, and (3) consecration to Mary. The
three are inter-related. As far as our life and work in CFC-FFL,
it cannot be one or two without the other(s).
If not LCSC, our servanthood to the Church is limited, is
not all-giving and self-emptying. While claiming to serve
God and the Church (as indeed we are), we would still be serving
ourselves, expanding our territory, putting our name on Jesus’
disciples (all are called to be Christian and not necessarily
“Couples for Christ”). If not LCSC, we could not
achieve truly massive evangelization, being able to reach
the great majority of Catholics that are lapsed, reaching
down to the grassroots, as we mainstream Catholic lay evangelization
by basing this work in the parishes under the parish priests.
If not LCSC, this lay response to the New Evangelization would
not have started in a small part of the universal Church,
a parish in Antipolo, and now poised to reach the whole world
under the banner of Mary.
LCSC is all about Christ and how to live as a true Christian.
A Christian is one who has met Christ, is living Christ, and
is sharing Christ. It addresses the basic aspects of Christian
life that is not present in the lives of many Catholics.
needs to meet Christ. We must have a deep intimate personal
relationship with Jesus. We need to encounter the risen Lord,
the God who is alive and always with us.
needs to live Christ. We are not just to repent of our sins,
as that is only the very first step. We are not just to try
to live good lives, as that is just a basic aspect. Rather,
we are to walk in holiness, to strive to be true disciples,
to seek Christian perfection.
needs to share Christ. Every true Christian must be an evangelizer.
Every disciple must share the good news of salvation in Jesus
with others. The Catholic Church exists for mission. We are
to proclaim the gospel to the ends of the earth.
With the consecration of the whole world to the Immaculate
Heart of Mary by Pope Francis, the stage is now set for the
work of the New Evangelization. It starts with strengthening
the Catholic Church by reaching and renewing lapsed Catholics.
It continues with missio ad gentes, with particular focus
on the youth and on the poor. It ends with all ages calling
world is racing to the end of time. There is no time to waste
or to lose. Now is the time for the New Evangelization. Now
is the time for LCSC.
