THE SERVANT GENERAL
OUR THEME FOR 2017
UNITY UNDER GOD
The most important aspect of unity is our all being children
of God. This is the work of the Triune God--Father, Son, Holy
Spirit. “As proof that you are children, God sent the
spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying out, ‘Abba,
Father!’” (Gal 4:6). We have been moved from out
of slavery to sin and the evil one, and reintegrated into
God’s family. “So you are no longer a slave but
a child” (Gal 4:7a).
many are still in slavery to sin--mammon, power, selfishness,
materialism, sexual licentiousness, hedonism, greed, gossip,
rivalry, factionalism, and the like. And so we, the people
of God, His Church, remain divided. But Jesus has already
come, as the first among brothers, to restore us to the family
of God. So “when the fullness of time had come, God
sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to ransom
those under the law, so that we might receive adoption.”
(Gal 4:4-5). And we should be looking to the unity of the
Holy Family, with “Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying
in the manger.” (Lk 2:16). But we have not adequately
should be united under the Prince of Peace, but Jesus also
came for division. There are those who accept him, and those
who reject him. So those who accept him must work to turn
around those who reject him. Those who have met and know him
must share him with others. This is the work of evangelization.
God wants to bless us and use us to do a mighty work of worldwide
evangelization. “May God bless us still; that the ends
of the earth may revere him.” (Ps 67:8). The goal is
to get people to accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. “May
the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you!”
Triune God is one. The Holy Family is united. Being God’s
children, we in CFC-FFL must likewise be united--in mind,
heart, vision and mission. So as we start this new year, let
us strive for peace, unity and order in the body. Let us use
LCSC to unite our Church in the work of the New Evangelization.
Let us look to less strife in the world and to greater unity.
Let us look to the peace of Christ in our lives, in our families
and in our communities and parishes.
all that, I invoke the Aaronic blessing upon you all.
Lord bless you and keep you!
The Lord let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you!
The Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace!”
