DESTINED FOR GREATNESS – 4
March 11, 2018
Today’s reading: Ephesians 2:4-10
We are destined for greatness. This stems from who or what
we are, according to God’s design, and from what God
intends for us to do for Him. “For we are his handiwork,
created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God has prepared
in advance, that we should live in them.” (v.10).
are God’s handiwork, the very work of His hands. God
created us according to His image and likeness. Now he has
re-created us in the image of His Son Jesus. We are to be
another Christ. We are to be holy as God is holy.
God has destined us for good works, in fact, to do what is
His very own work. Jesus saved us, and we are in turn to become
instruments of salvation for many others. During Jesus’
public ministry, he did great works. We are to do even greater
works than he did, accompanied by signs and wonders.
when our time on earth is done, God would have “raised
us up with him, and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ
Jesus” (v.6a). That would be the fullness of greatness
we are destined for, to be in the presence of God eternally
what do we have to look forward to? It is this: “that
in the ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches
of his grace in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.”
(v.7). Immeasurable riches. Fullness of grace. What do you
call all that? It is being destined for greatness.
