U.S.
Catholic universities have become very
secular and liberal, to the point of
welcoming anti-life, anti-family, homosexualist
forces. And now this. Prayer rooms for
Muslim students and Islamic chaplains
to minister to them? What insanity is
this?! They are supposed to be Catholic
institutions. They already allowed the
Muslims to study there; do they have
to provide strong Islamic support? Muslims
are more and more overwhelming the west
with their growing presence in their
societies. Now we are going to see the
infiltration happening in the schools.
The welcoming posture can only encourage
more Muslims to enroll in Catholic universities.
But
then, in every dark cloud there is a
silver lining. On many aspects, including
pro-life, pro-family and sexual conservatism,
the Muslims have the same mind as true
Catholics. So in bending backwards to
the Muslims, these Catholic universities
are also restricting men-women interaction
in dorms, prohibiting sex before marriage,
looking to daily prayer and periodic
fasting. What a crazy world! In this
case, the Muslims are the partners of
pro-lifers in fighting the secular and
liberal culture pervading in the universities.
All
these happen because such Catholic universities
are confused about their true identity.
If only they will be truly Catholic,
then there would be no such difficulties.

universities seeing influx of Muslim
students - Washington Post
In
the past few years, enrollment of Muslim
students has spiked at Catholic campuses
across the country. Last year, Catholic
colleges had an even higher percentage
of Muslim students than the average
four-year institution in the United
States. The influx has astonished and
sometimes befuddled administrators.
Some
Catholic campuses are creating prayer
rooms for new Muslim students and hiring
Islamic chaplains to minister to them.
Others are unsure how to adapt. One
of the sharpest increases in Muslims
students has been at Catholic University
in Northeast Washington. Echoing Islam’s
conservative culture, the school separates
men and women in its dorms and imposes
visiting hours. The university prohibits
sex before marriage. Daily prayer and
periodic fasting are common concepts.
