of the Young Ministries on the proposed SOGIE Bill
AN ACT PROHIBITING DISCRIMINATION ON THE BASIS OF SEXUAL
ORIENTATION AND GENDER IDENTITY OR EXPRESSION (SOGIE)

for Family and Life (YFL- youth members), Singles for Family
and Life (SFL- single professional men and women), Young
Couples Ministry (YCM), are the young Family Ministries
of Couples for Christ Foundation for Family and Life (CFC-FFL),
a Catholic evangelistic and missionary community. We resolutely
stand by the position of CFC-FFL, our community, on the
Sacredness of Marriage.
We are collectively committed to the renewal of the family
and the defense of life. We adhere faithfully to a set of
beliefs and ideals from which flow our Christian attitudes,
values and behavior, as well as its programs, teachings
and approaches to Christian renewal within the context of
As such, we reject the proposed SOGIE Bill in the Upper
and Lower Houses of the Philippine Congress, due primarily
to the inclusion of the legalization of marriage between
homosexuals, or homosexual unions, and the Gender Ideology.
As specified in our CFC-FFL Statement on the Sanctity
of Marriage, released on July 27, 2017, we reiterate
WE BELIEVE that God created marriage primarily for love
between man and woman, their unity, and for the procreation
and proper rearing of children.
WE BELIEVE that efforts to promote homosexual or same-sex
unions point to a disordered definition of marriage that
inherently can never be equivalent to, nor be defined
as marriage, because it is contrary to nature. God ordained
a union between a man and a woman for the procreation
of children. This complementarity, including the sexual
differences, draws them together in a mutually loving
and indissoluble union that should always be open to the
procreation of children. Divorce and same-sex unions contradict
the very nature and design of marriage.
WE LOOK on homosexual persons with respect and compassion.
We do not condemn but call them to chaste friendships.
as young people committed to the building of the kingdom of
Christ, we state the following concerning the Gender Issue:
1. A person cannot change his or her sexual identity.
Persons are made in the image and likeness of God. Therefore,
one’s gender is a God-given gift and absolute. The
Gender Ideology presupposes that gender is subjective
because it is culturally and/or socially created and therefore
there are no absolute types of gender or sexual identity.
Sexual identity is not a cultural nor social construction
but is an objective fact rooted in our very nature as
either female or male persons;
We believe in the importance of sexual complementarity
of men and women. Each were created to enhance each other’s
roles. Example: Being male or female is a specific property
of who we are as persons. A man simply cannot, as a male,
bear or gestate children. Gender Ideology totally eliminates
any difference between man and woman and attempts to advocate
for total equality of men and women, biologically and
3. We advocate the living of chaste lives and postponing
sexual intimacies as Divinely ordained for the Sacrament
of Marriage. The Gender Ideology advocates for absolute
sexual freedom or total sexual liberation even for children,
with a code phrase “sexual and reproductive
We give premium to the following institutions: 4.1) the
Catholic Church and 4.2) the Family, as headed by the
father and the mother. The Gender Ideology targets to
eliminate Religion and Parental Authority. As young people
we cling to the guidance of our Spiritual Authorities
in order to live godly lives.
5. We look to homosexuals as persons who share in the Charter
of Rights of the Family, as presented by the Holy See (now
St. John Paul II), to all persons, institutions and authorities
concerned with the mission of the family in today's world.
therefore call on our legislators to understand the true and
deeper meaning of the Gender Ideology and its serious implications
to society and reject the SOGIE Bill. We stand by the call
of the Catholic Church, “The acceptance of our bodies
as God’s gift is vital for welcoming and accepting the
entire world as a gift from the Father and our common home…whereas
thinking that we enjoy absolute power over our own bodies
turns, often subtly, into thinking that we enjoy absolute
power over creation.” (Laudato Si)
